Teacher and students from Washington DC appreciate the Tata First Book initiative

As a part of its corporate sustainability initiatives, Tata Sons entered into a partnership with award-winning non-profit First Book in December 2007. Between 2007 and 2012, with the help of volunteer programs involving almost all Tata companies in North America, Tata companies have distributed over 175,000 brand-new books, valued at well over $1.3 million to children throughout North America.

Alexandra Huddleston, a teacher from William E Doar Jr Public Charter School for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, and her students received books following the event that Tata Sons hosted with First Book in October 2012. The event saw participation from Tata companies local to the DC-Metro area – Tata Communications, Tata Consultancy Services and Jaguar Land Rover. The companies donated over 15,000 books to area schools in need.

In a to express her gratitude, Ms Huddleston's enthusiastic message represents the impact being made by Tata's annual partnership with First Book throughout North America.
